Expedition Overview

Chogolisa (7,665m), also known as Bride Peak for its graceful summit ridges, is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Karakoram — a broad, sweeping summit that presents a relatively accessible challenge compared to its 8,000m neighbours. Located in the Baltoro region adjacent to the route to K2, it is often climbed as an acclimatization peak before attempts on K2, G1, or GII, but it is a significant achievement in its own right. The Northeast Ridge — the standard route — involves glacier travel and moderate snow slopes without the extreme technical difficulty of the higher Karakoram giants. Hermann Buhl, one of mountaineering's greatest figures, disappeared near the summit in 1957 while descending after a solo summit attempt — adding to Chogolisa's legendary status.
