Expedition Overview

Nanga Parbat (8,125m) — "the Naked Mountain" in Sanskrit — earned its fearsome nickname as the "Killer Mountain" during the early years of Himalayan exploration, when more climbers perished attempting it than any other 8,000m peak. Today, the standard Diamir Face route via the western side is the most popular and accessible approach, reaching base camp from the Chilas–Diamer valley. The mountain has three distinct faces: the Diamir (west, most used), the Rupal (south, world's largest mountain face at 4,600m of vertical elevation), and the Raikot (north face above Fairy Meadows). This expedition covers the Diamir Face route with full commercial support.

Expedition Highlights

Nanga Parbat (8,125m) — world's 9th highest, Pakistan's 2nd highest peak

Diamir Face — the most popular and accessible route

Rupal Face viewpoint — world's largest mountain face (4,600m vertical)

Relatively straightforward approach vs K2 — no glacier base camp trek

One of the more "accessible" 8,000m expeditions for experienced climbers

Base camp at Fairy Meadows (north) or Diamir (west) — both extraordinary

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Diamir route technical?

The Diamir Face requires moderate technical skills — ice climbing up to 50–55° and some mixed sections. It is considered less technically demanding than K2, Gasherbrum I, or Masherbrum, but still requires experienced high-altitude climbers with strong technical ability.

Can we see the Rupal Face (world's largest)?

The Rupal Face (4,600m of vertical, the world's largest mountain face) is on the south side of Nanga Parbat. We offer a Rupal Face trek as an add-on or separate package if you want to witness this extraordinary wall.
