Overview
Naltar Valley, 45km north of Gilgit in the Karakoram foothills, is one of northern Pakistan's most charming hidden gems. The valley is famous for its three extraordinary high-altitude lakes that shift colour dramatically with the light — Satrangi (Rainbow Lake, 3,600m), Blue Lake (3,800m), and White Lake (3,900m). Dense forests of silver fir, blue pine, and juniper cover the lower valley, giving way to alpine meadows that turn gold in autumn. The Pakistan Army ski resort operates here in winter on slopes that rival European resorts. In summer, the valley is a peaceful trekking paradise with minimal crowds.
