Overview
The Gasherbrum Base Camp Trek takes you deep into the heart of the Karakoram to the foot of two of the world's fourteen 8,000m peaks — Gasherbrum I (Hidden Peak, 8,080m) and Gasherbrum II (8,034m). The route follows the Abruzzi Glacier from Askole, passing through breathtaking landscapes of granite, ice, and moraines. Unlike the K2 Base Camp route, the Gasherbrum trek attracts far fewer trekkers, giving you a more remote and intimate high-altitude experience. The approach crosses the same Baltoro Glacier used by K2 expeditions before branching south into the Gasherbrum Cirque — a dramatic amphitheatre of ice and 8,000m walls. From the combined base camp, you have a stunning view across the glacier towards the towering summits of GI, GII, and the jagged skyline of the Karakoram.

Is this different from the K2 Base Camp trek?
Yes — you share the Baltoro approach but branch south at Concordia to the Gasherbrum Cirque instead of continuing northwest to K2 BC. It is shorter (12 days vs 18) and less crowded, while visiting equally spectacular terrain.
Can this be combined with K2 Base Camp?
Absolutely — the treks naturally combine into a 18–20 day circuit. Many trekkers do Concordia → GBC → Concordia → K2 BC in one extended expedition. Ask us for our combined itinerary.
