Expedition Overview

Laila Peak (6,096m) is widely considered one of the most beautiful peaks in the entire Karakoram — a near-perfect granite and ice pyramid rising from the Charakusa Glacier in the Hushe Valley. Technically, it offers a superb alpine challenge on its standard southwest ridge — steep snow and ice with some mixed terrain near the summit. It is achievable by experienced alpinists with solid 5,000m+ experience but requires genuine technical competence. The approach through Hushe Valley is spectacular and the base camp setting is extraordinary. Laila is one of the prizes of Pakistan's 6,000m mountaineering scene.

Day 1

Islamabad — Briefing & Equipment Check

Day 2

Islamabad → Skardu → Khaplu → Hushe

🏠 Guesthouse Hushe🍽️ All meals⛰️ to 3,100m

Fly to Skardu (1hr). Drive to Khaplu then Hushe Village (3,100m). Arrival and team setup.

Day 3

Hushe → Charakusa Glacier → Base Camp (4,200m)

Trek up the Charakusa Valley to base camp beneath Laila's southwest face. Camp setup.

Day 4

Acclimatization Rotations (Days 4–16)

Progressive acclimatization to Camp 1 (4,900m) and Camp 2 (5,400m). Rest days at base camp between rotations. Route fixing on technical sections.

Day 5

Summit Push (Days 17–22)

Weather-dependent summit attempt from Camp 2 or high camp. Final summit ridge — exposed and technical — leads to Laila's extraordinary pyramid summit (6,096m).
