Overview
The Batura Glacier near Passu in upper Hunza is one of the most dramatic and accessible glaciers in the Karakoram. At 58km in length, it is one of the longest glaciers outside the polar regions, fed by a cirque of 7,000m+ peaks including Batura I (7,795m), Batura II (7,762m), and Batura III (7,729m). The Passu Cones — four extraordinary needle-sharp rock towers rising 2,000m directly from the valley floor — are among the most recognisable geological formations in Pakistan and one of the most-photographed mountain scenes in the world. This trek takes you from Passu village onto the glacier moraine for close-up views of the ice, across suspension bridges over glacial rivers, and to high viewpoints with sweeping panoramas of the Karakoram.
