Minapin Glacier
Region
This is the course that unlocks the greater Karakoram. If you aspire to climb Spantik, Rakaposhi, or eventually K2, you need the skills taught here: ice axe arrest, crampon technique, glacier travel, crevasse rescue, fixed rope ascending and rappelling, and the altitude physiology and decision-making that keep climbers safe in the mountains. This 12-day course is conducted on the Minapin Glacier (Nagar Valley) and includes a summit attempt on Diran Peak's approach summit (5,500m) β a serious but achievable objective for course graduates. Certified by the Alpine Club of Pakistan, this is the most comprehensive mountaineering course available in Pakistan, taught by guides who have summited K2, Nanga Parbat, and Gasherbrum.

Is this course a prerequisite for Wonderland's expedition packages?
For peaks like Spantik (7,027m), Chogolisa (7,665m), and Rakaposhi (7,788m), we require either completion of this course or documented equivalent experience. For K2, Masherbrum, and Distaghil Sar, far more extensive expedition experience is required beyond this course.
