Spantik, known as "Golden Peak" for the way its summit pyramid glows at sunrise and sunset, stands at 7,027m in the Nagar Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan. The approach to base camp passes through some of the most beautiful alpine terrain in Pakistan β lush green meadows, granite walls, glacial moraines, and wildflower-covered slopes. Unlike the Baltoro treks, the Spantik BC approach is relatively accessible, starting from Nagar and passing through pastoral valleys before gaining the high Chogo Lungma Glacier. The base camp itself (5,800m) offers one of the finest panoramas in the Karakoram β Spantik's golden pyramid directly above, Rakaposhi to the north, Diran rising behind, and the endless wall of the Karakoram stretching to the horizon.
