Rakaposhi South Face Trek

Short jeep transfer to the Danyore Nala valley head, then a gentle walk up the stream past cultivated terraces, rocky slopes, and seasonal grazing grounds to camp.

Trek up the valley trail to Sulgin Glacier, crossing open ground, stream-cut terrain, and increasingly rocky moraine to a base camp near the glacier snout, directly beneath Rakaposhi's south face. Return to Danyore Nala Camp for the night.

Descend the same route back to the valley head and jeep transfer back to Gilgit.

Same mountain, opposite side. The Minapin route (north side, via Nagar Valley) is the established, more-trekked option with a maintained forest trail. This route approaches from the south via Danyore Nala, near Gilgit, and is far less visited — expect rockier moraine and a less-defined trail in exchange for real solitude and a different view of the mountain.

Sulgin Glacier flows down from Rakaposhi's south face into the Danyore Nala valley near Gilgit. This trek follows the valley up to a base camp near the glacier's snout (~3,660m), directly beneath the mountain's dramatic, serac-laden south face.

It's more demanding than the Minapin route — the trail is less established, with rockier moraine sections. We'd recommend the standard Rakaposhi Base Camp Trek (Minapin) for first-time trekkers, and this route for those with some trekking experience seeking a quieter, wilder alternative.
