Overview
The Ghizer District is one of Pakistan's most overlooked gems. Tucked between the Karakoram to the north and the Hindu Kush to the west, this green valley of rushing rivers, forested slopes, and turquoise lakes sees a fraction of the visitors of its famous neighbours. Phander Lake (3,000m) is one of Pakistan's most beautiful alpine lakes — an intensely turquoise jewel surrounded by pine forests and backed by Hindu Kush peaks. The Yasin Valley is even more remote — a narrow gorge of extraordinary beauty that once sat astride the ancient Silk Road connecting the southern oases to the north. This trek combines nature, history, and culture in a completely untouched corner of northern Pakistan.
