Overview
The Broghil Pass and Darkot Pass trek is one of the most adventurous and historically significant trekking routes in all of Pakistan. Broghil Pass (3,798m) sits on the Afghan–Pakistan border and was the main route used by the Silk Road traders travelling from Central Asia into the subcontinent. Through Broghil, you overlook the Wakhan Corridor — the narrow finger of Afghanistan that separates Pakistan and Tajikistan. The Darkot Pass (4,703m) on the Gilgit–Yarkhun watershed is a high and demanding crossing. The whole route passes through the most remote valleys of upper Chitral — Yarkhun, Laspur, and the approaches to Broghil — where snow leopards, Marco Polo sheep, and wolves still roam undisturbed. Very few foreign trekkers ever complete this route, making it one of the most exclusive and authentic mountain adventures in Pakistan.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Afghan border zone safe?
Yes — the Broghil border area is remote but not insecure. Pakistani border scouts maintain posts at Ishkarwaz. We do not cross into Afghanistan — the trek stays entirely on the Pakistan side. The special permit (FIA/Interior Ministry) takes 3–4 weeks and we handle the entire process.
Can this be done without the Darkot Pass?
Yes — an alternative exits via Laspur Valley back to Chitral if Darkot conditions are poor. We always carry both route plans.
