Expedition Overview

Diran Peak (7,257m) in the Nagar District of Hunza is widely considered one of the best introductory 7,000m expedition peaks in Pakistan. It offers a relatively straightforward approach from the beautiful Minapin Valley, a non-technical standard route (for alpinism standards), and extraordinary views that include the west face of Rakaposhi (7,788m) and the full Karakoram panorama. Unlike the ultra-committing Karakoram 8,000m peaks, Diran is achievable for experienced high-altitude climbers stepping up from 6,000m peaks. Day 1

Arrive Islamabad — Team Assembly

Islamabad → Hunza → Minapin

Drive or fly to Gilgit, continue to Minapin Village (2,500m). Meet local team.

Day 3

Minapin → Base Camp (3,800m)

Trek through Minapin Valley to established base camp under Diran's south face.

Day 4

Base Camp — Acclimatization Period (Days 4–15)

Multiple acclimatization rotations: BC to Camp 1 (5,200m), Camp 1 to Camp 2 (6,100m), returning to BC between each rotation. Standard acclimatization protocol.

Day 5

Summit Push — Camp 2 to Summit (Days 16–22)

Weather-dependent summit push from Camp 2. The summit ridge of Diran offers extraordinary views of Rakaposhi, Haramosh, and the entire Karakoram. Return to base camp.
